Watch Protocol

The transparent scoring framework used by Gamewatch Post for its four-game Android ranking.

Scale is easy to advertise and difficult to interpret. This protocol rewards a game when its central decisions are understandable, its information appears organised for a phone and its access conditions are visible. Download count and user rating remain store context, never substitutes for the separate editorial score. The weights total 100% and produce an editorial score that remains visibly separate from the Google Play user rating.

Source boundary

Every selected game had to retain an official Google Play page using hl=en&gl=IN on 21 September 2026. The project recorded the official title, App ID, developer, category, current user rating where displayed, review count, download band, India price, advertising and in-app-purchase labels, content rating and update date. Icons and at least two screenshots were downloaded from those same pages, converted to local WebP files and logged with source URLs in assets/images/sources.json.

The official listing can describe features and display the publisher's chosen presentation. It cannot prove input comfort, balance, battery use, network quality, frame rate or compatibility across all Android devices. When the listing does not confirm offline play, controller support or another capability, the site leaves that point unconfirmed rather than converting silence into a feature claim.

Scoring model

Editors read the same evidence fields for all four games, assess each published lens and combine the weighted judgements into a score out of 100. The number is a structured opinion, not a laboratory result. Download bands and review counts remain visible because they help readers understand storefront context, but popularity does not add points. Likewise, a paid game does not receive an automatic advantage over a free game; clarity of the whole access model is what matters.

01

Decision visibility

31%

How clearly official material exposes the choices, trade-offs and consequences at the centre of play. This weight applies equally to every entry and is interpreted from the same source boundary. A strong result in this lens can explain a recommendation, but it cannot erase a clearly stated limitation in access, presentation or intended audience.

02

Rule readability

25%

How legibly maps, units, resources or tiles appear organised on a phone screen. This weight applies equally to every entry and is interpreted from the same source boundary. A strong result in this lens can explain a recommendation, but it cannot erase a clearly stated limitation in access, presentation or intended audience.

03

Session control

23%

How well the described structure supports planning, pausing, saving or returning without invented claims. This weight applies equally to every entry and is interpreted from the same source boundary. A strong result in this lens can explain a recommendation, but it cannot erase a clearly stated limitation in access, presentation or intended audience.

04

Access clarity

21%

How transparently price, purchases and platform requirements frame the commitment. This weight applies equally to every entry and is interpreted from the same source boundary. A strong result in this lens can explain a recommendation, but it cannot erase a clearly stated limitation in access, presentation or intended audience.

Ordering and ties

The final order follows the weighted total, then uses the site's central editorial question as a tie-breaker. For Gamewatch Post, that means asking which entry most clearly serves players in India comparing strategy games by the decisions they make visible. A narrow game can outrank a larger one when its purpose and trade-offs are easier to understand. The Best for line is therefore as important as the ordinal position: it explains the use case behind the number.

Limits, corrections and updates

No game was claimed to have been completed, benchmarked or tested on a private device lab. Editorial statements describe the interpretation of official material and are written to keep uncertainty explicit. Prices, ratings, content labels, compatibility and availability can change after publication. Readers should reopen the linked India store page before installing or paying.

Factual corrections can be sent to [email protected] with the relevant page, App ID and official source. Confirmed corrections should update data/games.json and the generated HTML together so that visible facts, structured data and source records do not drift apart.
